This is the second time I’m writing this blog, the first one was just all over the place and I wasn’t even sure whether I would publish that or not. Not even sure about this one, it’s an issue I have mixed feelings about right now and I’m not sure if I’m in a position to judge it or not. If I’m completely wrong about this I’m going to apologize to Miley Cyrus beforehand and admit that I’m a complete and total asshole.
I’m worried about Miley, not because of all the trainwreck talk that people throw at her all the time, I don’t see that happening right now. The problem right now is mainly her clothing, yes, teenagers these days often dress quite sexy, especially at that age. I think with Miley however it’s starting to go a bit too far. I know it’s easy to judge someone from far away but right now I’m doing this out of concern. It’s starting to distract people from what matters.
It’s both in her casual and performance outfits really, while I don’t agree with people who say that it’s all of a sudden they do have a point that it comes off as trying too hard. I think it’s something that has been going on for years actually, there seems to be a steady evolution in outfits. We were already able to see some of Miley’s in candid pictures as far as two or three years ago however we can see more and more of it. Short shorts are nothing new either, however, combined with bra revealing tops and very high heels you can understand why people are trying to take issue with it.
Right now people are talking more about what she wears on stage or out in public than what she actually does there. Instead of talking about her new songs (I still think that Miley is one of the most talented singer and songwriter of her generation) they are talking about what she is wearing or not wearing, depends on how you look at it. When she is out in public they are talking about what she’s wearing again and not her going off to Kentucky to support a charity for underprivileged children.
So instead of talking about an incredibly talented girl with a big heart, people are talking about how inappropriate she dresses, that surely can’t be what she wants. As I said, I don’t think it’s this “she’s trying to dump her Hannah Montana image” thing people are talking about. Miley has always said that she doesn’t care about what other people say or write about her, which in itself is a good way to look at things, it means she won’t let people change who she is. However everyone should take into account what other people might think to a certain extent.
I think she might have taking the not caring about what other people think too far, as I said, it seems to be an evolution. Throughout that evolution however there doesn’t seem to be anyone who slows it down a little. It always goes just that little bit further and right now it really is starting to cause problems for her.
Do I want Miley to change who she is? No, I don’t. She’s still a very talented person with a big heart (that’s how it always seems to me anyway), she however is taking it all a bit too far right now and in that process she could be hurting exactly what she wants. For people to take her seriously for who she is and not for what Disney made her. The impression people have of a person means a lot, right now I think she’s giving them the wrong impression.
So yes, I might be completely wrong about this. I actually would bet that I am, it probably isn’t as black and white as people think it is for any of the theories out there. Who knows, the people who say that this is all pre-planned to get rid of the Hannah Montana image also might be right, we don’t know what is talked about in meetings with Miley though. I don’t like writing things like this, there are no facts I can base it on and I don’t like being negative about people. Right now Miley just has me worried though, people should be talking about her work not about all of this. She seems to be caring too much about not caring what people think of her.
