About a year ago I wrote about how pitiful a lot of the official websites for the people linked on starletlinks.com are. So I took a look at the sites a year later and also looked at other ones; there is good news and bad news.

Lets start with the bad examples of last year, it’s always best to start with the bad news. LLrocks.com, Lindsay Lohan’s official site still hasn’t received a single update. A last update on the 27th February 2005 was bad enough last year now it’s even worse, I can’t even imagine how little they care about her web presence. Yes of course she has more important things to take care off, she has to try and rebuild her career but a good web presence could be a sign to people that she really is serious about it. Though the Lohan family doesn’t take the internet serious anyway, they’re trying to launch Aliana Lohan’s career but her site is probably even worse than Lindsay’s, no information there whatsoever.

Another site that hasn’t received a single update in the past year is Abigail Breslin’s site. Just like last year it still mentions that she’s nominated for an Academy Award, this time last year we already know she didn’t win it. Looking at the website of Sofia Vassilieva who’s now Abigails co-star in My Sister’s Keeper it’s even worse. Not a single update in about seven years on a website for a girl that’s just fifteen. So her site hasn’t been updated for pretty much half her life, not the mention the very old school internet background music on the site. They don’t have to be active on the internet themselves, that might cause more trouble than it’s worth. But they should remember that they have a fanbase that does go online, they care and don’t like things like this. A good web presence shows that a celebrity cares about their fans, of course it doesn’t mean that Sofa and Abigail don’t but it’s not that big an effort.

To illustrate that I can give the example of the official websites for Kay and Danielle Panabaker. Both their sites are basically the same, a very simple design, they just have different graphics. The core design is identical, they’re sisters so why not let someone design two sites in one go. The sites aren’t overflowing with information, news or pictures but they are up to date. At least it shows that they are aware of their web presence, they’re both in college and have acting careers on the side so I can understand that they don’t waste too much time on updating a website.

The Disney people like Ashley Tisdale and Miley Cyrus still have their things in order as well. Not really sites that are overflowing with things but they’re up to date. Though in Miley’s case there of course is also Mileyworld.com where you have to pay to join (I haven’t been able to see it for myself but people that have joined seem to like the regular updates in videos and pictures, just forgetting the whole concert ticket deal for now). That site receives daily updates but Mileyworld also have a staff of people taking care of that. I’m not going to discuss all other pages again though, most of them pretty much stayed the same, some received regular updates and others less regular.

But we should also come to the positive news at some point. Emma Watson finally launched an official website last year; though she might have had one before but if she did it wasn’t noticeable. Her new site is a sleek flash design but unlike a lot of flash sites it also contains a lot of information. There is a sort of diary on there but it really doesn’t add a lot, Emma doesn’t really posts that often and if she does the messages are quite short. But the news section on the site is more up to date than any other official website linked on starletlinks.com.

Sadly Emma’s website is the only real positive change that is to be found, for the rest the sites either didn’t really change that much and just received some updates. That besides the large number of sites that didn’t receive any updates at all. Especially the lack of updates on diaries is annoying, having a diary section suggests that at some point that celebrity was planning on keeping the site up to date but at some point just lost interest or got too busy. In that case they should just shut down that section of the website, just leave static content. It’s better to give the impression of an up to date website than a website that looks like it has been left all alone on the internet and no one is taking care of it. I’m not a master web designer but I could do a better job than what has been done on some of those sites. Lets hope that there will be an improvement one year from now. I also hope that more of them will make official websites, most of them still don’t.

It’s quite common for siblings to be in the entertainment business. The same is true for the younger generation; people can probably notice that some people on starletlinks.com and starletviews.com share the same last name. This is of course because they’re sisters. Though it makes you wonder, who will have the bigger career in the end. So basically who is the most talented even though shear talent doesn’t always seem to be enough.

On starletlinks.com there are two main sister pares featured; Dakota and Elle Fanning are probably the best known ones right now. Dakota is four years older than Elle, that doesn’t really mean she works more though. While Dakota is in the spot light more than her little sister; Elle manages to pull of more movies a year than Dakota. Though I would have to add that a lot of the roles Elle does are smaller, supporting roles instead of starring roles. However she works with experienced actors like Denzel Washington and Brad Pitt, a perfect learning ground.

The fact that Dakota is in the spotlight more might help Elle in the end, she can stay in the background and slowly learn the trade. While Dakota might very well get stuck with the stigma of child star forever; Elle will probably have less of a problem with that. If I had to judge on pure talent I’m not certain actually, I have some movies with Elle and Dakota but not quite enough to form a definite opinion. Right now there isn’t that much of a difference between them I would say, though as I said I rate Elle’s chances in the long run higher.

The other sister pair that is featured on starletlinks.com is the Panabaker sisters; twenty year old Danielle and seventeen year old Kay. Both of them aren’t really big names in Hollywood yet but that doesn’t mean they won’t in the long run. We know already know they’re both very smart girls, something I talked about a couple of weeks ago. They’re also both very cute girls, Danielle is just quite a bit taller than her younger sister. They’re also both not that much in the spotlight which will help them probably; they can slowly build their career. Shooting to a big career right away hasn’t always proven beneficial.

Question just is; who’s the better actress? So far I’ve been able to see quite a lot of both and the result is. Best way to compare them is probably the Disney movie Read it and Weep where Danielle plays the alter ego of Kay. They just both do a good job, also in their other work I can’t really make up my mind. Danielle is currently doing a very good job in the CBS show Shark; meanwhile Kay is busy promoting her movie Moondance Alexander which already won a couple of prizes and is getting good reviews. Of course I haven’t seen that movie yet, the wide release isn’t until later this month.

So in this case I would actually say the both have an equally good shot at making it in Hollywood. They’re smart, cute and their getting acknowledgement for their acting talent. Guess they just need some more drama around them for the big public to take interest in them. Danielle plays a teenager that gets drunk and gets DUI’s on Shark; though that’s not real of course. They’re both steadily building their career so as long as they decide to stick to acting I think we’ll see quite a lot of them in the next ten years.

Also expect other sisters to come along in the next couple of years; no I’m not talking about Aliana Lohan. Her mother is probably ruining any chance of a career she ever had with her public dealing with Lindsay’s problems. I’m more talking about the likes of twelve year old Stella Hudgens, younger sister of Vanessa. She has been cast for the new Fox show Deeply Irresponsible, though it’s uncertain when the show will premiere. I also wouldn’t be too surprised to see a Disney show featuring Noah Cyrus at some point. There are also plenty of sisters out there I don’t even know about yet.

All girls in Hollywood are dumb and shallow. Sometimes it seems that way when you read the magazines and the celebrity news and gossip sites. The Lindsay Lohan’s and Britney Spears make it look like that but that’s only because they’re the ones that get all the media attention. There are girls out there that prove the opposite.

I’m not saying that people like Lindsay Lohan are dumb, I’ve never seen their school report cards; they just made the wrong choices. To the general audience they just seem that way also because you never know what is true and what isn’t. Most of the girls in Hollywood finish high school say that they want to go to college but don’t in the end. This is understandable looking at the busy schedules they have and that theire jobs usually pay well so there isn’t a need for a college degree in that department.

There are quite a few girls out there that are serious about an education though. Natalie Portman for example, she has a college degree in psychology from Harvard. She has even indicated that she would leave acting at some point and work as a psychologist, though I have my doubts that that would work. I don’t know if a lot of people would be willing to go to a psychologist who’s famous. Not to mention it’s quite hard to keep up with the latest development in a field of health care when you aren’t active in it.

It’s also the difference between kids that get pushed into show business and others that get into acting and just like it. There are a lot of cases where the mothers push their kids, like it seems to be the way with Dina Lohan and Lindsay. Take Sofia Vassilieva, both her parents hold Ph.D.’s not really the kind of people that would push their daughter into acting. She herself would have the brains to do something similar, not that many fourteen year olds that are fluent in four languages. I don’t know whether she wants to go to college or not, though I suspect she will be going.

The best example of girls in Hollywood not just being dumb would probably a pair of sisters: Danielle and Kay Panabaker. Skipping grades in school isn’t that rare a thing, when you’re a teenage girl who also has an acting career there is the problem of just having less time to spend on school. Yet Danielle managed to finish high school when she was fourteen, now she’s nineteen and she’s in her “senior year at UCLA. How many “normal” kids manage that? Have basically a full-time job and manage to finish school far ahead of schedule.

Just when you think that’s an extreme example, take a look at Danielle’s sister Kay. She’s basically one year ahead of Danielle, she finished high school when she was thirteen and managed to get her associates degree in college at the age of fifteen. She’s also going to college at UCLA as a history major now while she continues to act in movies, she doesn’t have a weekly TV show anymore since Summerland got cancelled but she keeps busy with movie projects.

That’s just the thing, things like that don’t make the press. If anything they’re questioned to be true, I bet if Danielle Panabaker would be caught driving drunk it would make the press (she actually plays a character on her TV show Shark that gets caught driving drunk). The fact that she’s close to finishing college won’t. Which is sad really, the world just wants to see the bad things in Hollywood. The fact that there are girls that are different doesn’t seem to matter.

People just don’t want to see the positive examples in Hollywood, people should know that there are a couple though.
