The role model; a person that is admired by young people and how they are trying to emulate. That’s more or less the definition of the term but to be completely honest; it’s all bullshit and the term shouldn’t be allowed to be used in that way, I don’t mean for the sake of the kid’s that admire them but also for the sake of the celebrities themselves. Tuesday, December 28th, 2010Review: Break Up
Tuesday, October 20th, 2009
This thing snuck up on me a bit, I had no idea that Scarlett Johansson was releasing another album. So this was actually released a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, back in 2006 she recorded an album together wither singer/songwriter Pete Yorn and they now released that album. It has to be pointed out that Scarlett is on the album as a singer, all but one song on the album were written by Pete Yorn. Can’t say that I ever heard Scarlett Johansson talk about ambition as a song writer in any interview anyway. (more…)

Edition 32: Teenagers grow in certain places
Friday, November 23rd, 2007We all know that certain media outlets like to make up stories; a common source for stories are pictures. They seem especially interested in whether they can spot any possible surgical enhancements on celebrities. I can understand that, it’s part of their business and they use it to sell magazines. A thing I don’t get however why they sometimes focus on the younger generation?
A recent example of this is Hilary Duff, she has been seen wearing a dress that pushes up her breasts a bit and straight away websites and magazines are reporting she had implants put in. One picture isn’t proof, if you want proof you have to compare images over a longer period of time. After those pictures were released there have been plenty of pictures where Hilary looks as always, I don’t see them retracting any of their previous made statements though. Of course these sites don’t post this as facts but as rumours so technically they wouldn’t have to retract anything but it’s still annoying. (more…)
Edition 22: Growing up on screen
Friday, September 7th, 2007The thing with actresses starting at a young age is that you see them growing up on screen. You can of course never predict what they’ll be like in the future, sometimes they turn out to be different than you ever imagined.
There are two possible ways we can see people growing up on screen, there are the actresses that start out on TV and there are the ones that start in movies. With movies you see them growing up in steps, you see them once in a while. With TV you can literally see them growing up, they can even change over the course of a TV season.
One of the most famous examples probably are the Olsen twins, you could literally see Mary-Kate and Ashley start out as babies on Full House. After that they kept exploiting their cute twin factor in straight to DVD movies from their own production company Dual Star. But what everyone knew would happen really did happen; their cuteness factor wore off and now we just see two close to being anorexic fashion disasters in the tabloids. They’re now trying to get into acting again but solo; the twin thing isn’t that useful for adult actors. (more…)
