I can honestly say that I’m getting sick of these double standards in the world of entertainment, especially regarding young celebrities. Now I’m not in the business of attacking someone just to prove a point regarding someone else. So this shouldn’t be seen as an attack (because it isn’t) but just to illustrate a double standard.
We all know by now that Miley Cyrus is the favorite “bad girl” of almost every celebrity gossip site or blog. Anyone who has ever seen this site knows that I have a soft spot for her, that however doesn’t change that I can be objective if I have to be. Especially seeing I don’t actually hate any celebrity, I might be less fond of others but when you don’t like someone, you don’t have to watch their movies, tv shows or listen to their music.
So Miley Cyrus has ten piercings and a tattoo, the horror. Last time I checked that isn’t illegal even though some gossip bloggers maintain that it is; it’s called parental consent. That apparently makes her a bad girl, that she keeps staying humble and that everyone who works with her seems to love her, doesn’t seem to matter. Yes there are a lot of paparazzi pictures of her but is she ever actually doing something bad in them? Not exactly, you can’t find her at a nightclub in the middle of the night. The one story TMZ posted that she was refused at a night club was already proven as being false by the night club owners. Would be a bit of a suicide for a business to be known for breaking a customer’s privacy (even though she wasn’t actually a customer). Read the rest of this entry »

This thing snuck up on me a bit, I had no idea that Scarlett Johansson was releasing another album. So this was actually released a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, back in 2006 she recorded an album together wither singer/songwriter Pete Yorn and they now released that album. It has to be pointed out that Scarlett is on the album as a singer, all but one song on the album were written by Pete Yorn. Can’t say that I ever heard Scarlett Johansson talk about ambition as a song writer in any interview anyway. Read the rest of this entry »

It has been a while now since Emily Osment announced that she was working on an album. I was starting to wonder when she would release something, now the time has come that she is releasing something. The EP All the Right Wrongs with only six tracks. Which seems not a lot but looking it’s impossible to know how much time she’s had for it, the focus will be on the music. It’s at least not pretending to be an album, though a play time of 19 minutes seems even short for an EP. Read the rest of this entry »

It was once meant to further science, to share data between scientists. The internet has evolved into a new form of communication that is rotten to the bone. Translated to the theme of this website it means that it’s not a very nice place for young celebrities.
I’ve been around on the internet, visited numerous websites, blogs, youtube, forums and who knows what else. A lot of them deal with the daily issues of celebrities which in itself isn’t a bad thing. It’s just a development, people have always been interested in celebrities. Mostly in admiration of celebrities, as fans. There has also always been hatred of celebrities, with the internet however that hatred is more public than ever before. Though public it’s also easy, there is no one who will really hold you accountable for behavior on the internet.
What does that translate to? That there are a whole bunch of assholes who feel the need to publish their hatred for someone. Yes assholes, do these people even know what they are doing? When you ask them about it, odds are is that they are only stating their opinion. Well actually…. No it’s not, it’s called cyberbullying. Just because they don’t know the celebrity personally it’s still nothing less than bullying. Read the rest of this entry »

I am selfish, you are selfish, everyone is selfish. Just face the fact, the world is made up of a sorry bunch of selfish people. Does it mean that’s a bad thing? Not as such, there are good people out there. Though I am convinced that a lot of charity is mostly done by people to make them feel better about themselves. True selfless acts are rare these days (though they still exist) but that isn’t the subject here. It’s more the general idea of people being selfish.
So what does this have to be with celebrities or starlets in particular? Well, people tend to think only about themselves. Celebrities are there to serve a purpose, to entertain them. In this process it seems that people forgot that celebrities are one main thing; they are human. This isn’t the case for all people of course but at times it seems to be that way.
When people are fans they have some empathy for a certain celebrity, when they don’t like a celebrity they tend to act the same way as everyone else though. They get mad when someone says something bad about their favorite but they won’t hesitate to say something bad about another celebrity. Though I guess you can qualify that under general fan behavior, it’s not always a pretty sight. Read the rest of this entry »
