So Undercover

November 4th, 2010

So yesterday I said to a couple of people that I was a bit worried about Miley Cyrus‘ career. Might seem like an odd moment to do so seeing all the news regarding Miley right now is personal stuff but I already said how I feel about that the other day. The thing is I just felt like nothing is happening, sure there are quite a few movies listed for her but what is their production status exactly? Main thing was the project So Undercover which was sort of announced a while ago and was said to start shooting this month. How can there be a movie without any real announcement?

So I go to bed and wake up to an announcement about the movie, that’s what I call timing; as if someone was spying on me (though I doubt I as an individual matters). Also the reason why I’m writing this blog, I feel like there should be a blog that should focus on something else than Miley’s private life at the moment. The other reason is the first reactions I saw to this online, not so much from website but more from random people. Apparently everything Miley does is bad, etc. The not giving Miley a chance is a running theme around the internet really. One of the main issues people seem to have is the no big studio involvement.

So what? There are so many movies that don’t start out with studio involvement. A project being picked up at a later time is very normal. Granted I had never heard of the company that’s funding it either; Executive Media Group. So where does the money for that company come from? A Dutch investment group backed by large companies and people (well, one huge person in entertainment really). So no, this is not some empty project. They are also a production company; it will be produced together with two other companies; Scarlet Fire Entertainment and Hope Town Entertainment. Scarlet Fire is run by the people who wrote the movie script Allan Loeb and Steven Pearl. Now those aren’t no-names. Allan Loeb wrote movies like 21 and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, so movies that did pretty well at the box office. Steven Pearl isn’t exactly inexperienced either. Read the rest of this entry »

Just a few things to say

November 2nd, 2010

Right now the internet is swarming with all sorts of blogs and articles about Demi Lovato going into a treatment facility, Miley Cyrus’ parents getting divorced and breaking up with her boyfriend. Ever celebrity site is writing about them. Well, I’m not going to (I am aware that in writing this I actually am but you get the point). These are things that are none of my business. No, they aren’t good things but I don’t have a right to spread all sorts of things about it.

I don’t know the circumstances, I don’t know why those things happen and most of all they are things that should be handled in private. They are things that are tough enough on people like Miley and Demi as it is, they should be granted the peace and quiet to deal with things themselves without the media interfering. The same goes for the fan and hater communities out there (though why someone would want to be part of a hater community I don’t know), they should take a step back and give them space.

So no, this blogger isn’t going to spend any more time on it. They deserve their privacy and these are things that aren’t anyone’s business; they are things they have to deal with on their own. It’s bad enough that so many people already are involving themselves with it.

Review: Speak Now

October 24th, 2010

Taylor Swift has her third studio album out now called Speak Now. First of I have to say where it stands out is its length; it actually has a playtime of about 66 minutes, when was the last time you’ve seen that? So if you buy the album you’re already getting value for money quantity wise. Sort of like a two for one sale in today’s music. Though I also have to add that I have no idea what the average length of a country album is. Because that’s still what she is, a country artist (fine, pop-country) but with a lot of pop music followers. Read the rest of this entry »

Schrödinger’s Miley

October 19th, 2010

Erwin Schrödinger hypothesized that if you put a cat in a chamber together with a device to kill said cat. The device would be timed by a radioactive isotope, so the exact time of the cat’s death is uncertain. Does this make Erwin Schrödinger an animal killer? No, he never actually did it, it’s a thought experiment in quantum mechanics. What it means is that the cat is both dead and alive at the same time because we are unable to observe it in the closed chamber.

No, I’m not posting a blog on the wrong page, this actually reminded me of how the media reports on celebrities. As such they have nothing to do with each other, the subjects couldn’t be further apart. However there is some logic to my little brain fart. To make it clear I’m going to use Miley Cyrus as an example but it could apply to any other celebrity; Miley is just the easiest to apply it to.

The view people have of celebrities is done through observation, we see a celebrity and we see what they do. However, there is so much we don’t see. In fact, doesn’t matter how much we see of a celebrity, how much we think we know about their lives, they are still a closed chamber. As such we don’t truly know what kind of person they are, we can only make an educated guess. Read the rest of this entry »

Review: Hannah Montana Forever

October 18th, 2010

Did you realize that it actually has been over a year since the release of the previous Hannah Montana soundtrack? Kind of odd thinking about it, looking at what pace they used to be pushed out. Fits with the Disney stretching Hannah Montana as long as it can, though I’ve gone over the problems with that before. Anyway now it’s time for the fourth (fifth if you count the movie soundtrack) and last soundtrack; Hannah Montana Forever. So after this, Miley Cyrus recording albums as Hannah Montana will be a part of history. Bit strange really, seventeen year old artist and you know for sure it’s their last album ever. Imaginary artist but odd nonetheless. Read the rest of this entry »
