Like every year; here is the annual list of the young stars in Hollywood who I think have been doing a good job at building their careers. So a combination of past current success, mixed with things coming up in the future. A lot of it is my gut telling me things about how I feel about it, so I am biased. I don’t expect anyone to agree with me regarding this list but you know what? I don’t care, it’s my list so I stand by it. Though I have to admit; I had a hard time coming up with ten names. A lot of teen stars failed to impress this year and there isn’t that much new blood coming at the moment; seems like there is a bit of a gap between generations at the moment. (more…)

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010It was 6574 days ago that Miley Cyrus was born, so what does that mean? That means that the biggest teen star of all time is now officially a legal adult at the age of 18. It sort of fits that it’s towards the end of a year where she ends one part of her carer and goes forward to the next part of her career. Though it would be more fitting if Disney actually had a decent airing schedule on the last season of Hannah Montana.
The woman (we have to call her that now really) has achieved a lot in those eighteen years. Don’t worry, I’m not going to name everything as most people who would be reading this would mostly know what they are. She’s done a lot and made a lot of money doing it; despite all the prejudice that exists regarding Miley. Unfair prejudice I have to add.
When you see Miley in interviews you see a sweet and humble girl and that is what people who have worked with her also say. Fans that have met her say the same thing (of course there are always the disappointed ones who don’t get that she can’t meet every single person when there’s 200 of them around, she has a life you know). She also likes sarcasm which a lot of people sadly don’t get and likes to joke in general really. (more…)
Grow Up CBS
Thursday, November 18th, 2010I’m not usually the one to jump in on a single episode of a random show but I’m making an exception here. This week CBS aired an episode of The Good Wife, guest starring Miranda Cosgrove. Now that itself isn’t really a major event, people guest star on shows all the time however the nature of the episode to me was just wrong.
The premise of the episode is that the main character has to defend a former Disney Channel star who got into trouble. In this case with DUI’s and attempted murder by ramming someone’s car. That’s right, Disney Channel star, with the emphasis on Disney. As the company is referenced more than once in the episode. Now I’m not someone for conspiracies but isn’t it rather convenient that they have a Nickelodeon star portray a gone of the deep end Disney star? Especially when you consider that CBS is part of Viacom, Nickelodeon is part of MTV Networks which in itself is part of Viacom again. So in all reality, direct competition to Disney.
Couldn’t they have considered to just make the character a teen star instead of making it company specific? Why add Disney into the mix? Yes, there is this history that Disney stars have gone and screwed up. That doesn’t mean that Disney star is a synonym for screw up. That’s just the company aspect though, it actually gets personal. Disney Channel Has a Problem
Tuesday, November 16th, 2010I think Disney Channel has a problem. No, I don’t think it will cease to exist but I do believe that there will be a bit of a low coming along. They might have to get used to lower ratings and less viewers. Everyone knows that Hannah Montana was a big thing for them and that is ending but it’s not the only thing.
Hannah Montana is of course much more than the TV show, you just have to take a look around certain stores and you’ll know why. That won’t die down completely right away after the show of course but it will go down, there is no other way. There will be endless repeats no doubt as well but a network like the Disney Channel also needs new things to air. That’s where the problem is.
Jonas LA has already been canceled (though that show never managed to score big), Wizards of Waverly Place just started its last season and who knows what will happen to Sonny With a Chance. They don’t know how long Demi Lovato will be out of the running and that’s why they are considering to rework it. The idea of turning it more into a real So Random, meaning a sketch show is a bad idea, you just have to look at the Halloween episode to know that it is. The concept of not having the naming character on the show is an odd one anyway. (more…)

The gossip press is an amusing medium. I do mean that, there are so many occasions where I can only laugh at what they come up with. The funniest about it all however is that they could easily prevent making fools of themselves by just spending five minutes on research. The last two weeks Miley Cyrus has been the subject of non-stories again, she was under the radar for a while shooting a movie but now she’s back in more public places and it’s noticeable.
It’s anyone who takes part really, be it the sites of pink demons, former Battlebots sites or any site or media outlet that aspires to be one of them. What was the first one? Well, Miley made an appearance at a Justin Bieber concert in New York and yes she was wearing far too much make-up. Which in the media somehow means that she got botox and lip injections. Have they ever looked at Miley before? The girl has big lips, deal with it.
There were pictures the day before and no one even hinted at anything like that because she looked normal. Did any of the media think about looking at the pictures from a day before? Apparently not; it takes two minutes of their “valuable” time which is too much it seems. It’s easier to create a story on just one picture anyway; in those pictures there however was something else; a band aid on the little finger on her right hand. A band aid? So what?
