Miley’s Break Up

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

So Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth broke up, they are no longer dating and it’s all over the press. It’s the summer who can blame them, there isn’t really anything else to talk about at the moment. So why did they break up? Who are they going to date next? Those are the questions that are being asked out there right now. (more…)

Sexing it Up

Saturday, August 7th, 2010

Lately there has been a lot of talk about sexing it up so to say, it was even mentioned on here before. In most cases the subject is Miley Cyrus or Taylor Momsen and the impression is given that they are the only one who use their womanly assets. You know what? I don’t think that’s true.

There is no real way around it, Taylor and Miley don’t exactly wear a lot on stage. So yes, they are trying to be sexy. To what level and why they do it is something only they can truly answer, doesn’t mean we can’t make an eduction guess from observations. As it seems to me, Taylor Momsen is mainly trying to shock people, it’s not so much about being sexy but more about what will get people to criticize her more. That is what she seems to want and it’s working, people are talking about it.

Miley isn’t that way I think. Yes of course she’s also trying to be sexy but as I’ve stated before I think it’s more a case of her being a bit too confident about her body at times. I don’t think it is something that is actually thought out by image people, mainly because of her casual outfits. At the moment she is in Detroit and there are no paparazzi around, however when there are fan pictures around the internet she dresses exactly the same way as she does in Los Angeles. If it was all an image issue she wouldn’t need to be doing that there, so to me that theory is debunked. (more…)

The Twitter Problem

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

I can honestly say that I like Twitter, I use it quite a lot myself as can be seen on my personal Twitter page. Yes the site itself also has a Twitter but that’s only used if there is a new blog posting, so not that much going on. As with anything good, there are things about Twitter that I don’t like. Things that don’t affect me personally but that do annoy me.

There are a lot of young stars on Twitter, be it Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Miranda Cosgrove, Victoria Justice or Kay Panabaker. As with anyone, they use Twitter in their own way, One of the key aspects of celebrities on Twitter is that they can stay in contact with their fans, in a way the fans feel that they are getting closer to them. It however also limits their private life somewhat depending on what they tweet; that is under their own control.

Then there however is the dark side of Twitter, the tweets celebrities don’t have any control over. Miley Cyrus quit Twitter out of privacy reasons, that however doesn’t mean that Twitter quit her. Ever since she hit that delete button there is a group of people out there on a mission to find out where she is. Just to note, she’s not the only celebrity who has to deal with this. With her it just seems the most visible right now, mainly due to her popularity level. (more…)

This whole Disney star thing

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

Selena Gomez just finished a big run of promotional activities for her movie Ramona and Beezus and through all of that something very annoying popped up again. While it seemed like the age old “Selena Gomez is replacing Miley Cyrus as a Disney star” was dying down a bit, it started up again. While I’ve said things about that in the past all those new statements about it made me think a bit.

It’s probably not a secret that I prefer Miley Cyrus over Selena Gomez. I won’t say that one is the better actor because I just haven’t seen enough of either of them to make that final judgment. Miley has done The Last Song yes and to me that shows that she has potential but that she also has a lot to learn. What I’ve seen of Selena’s acting is DVD and TV stuff and there she’s only really played the same character over and over again. Will have to see how she does in tougher roles.

Though I would have to add, if we ever get to see her in tougher roles. Right now Selena just seems a bit too safe in her career choices for my liking. That’s always been my main gripe with Selena anyway, it’s all a bit too sweet. Also when I look at her music, it’s all safe standard pop, there is no message behind the music. Can’t say that I take her music career that serious, also when I see her performing live there just seems to be this little bit of stage presence missing. That’s besides using backing tracks which to me is a no no for a singer, especially when you go on a nationwide talent show to perform. Which Selena did while performing on the America’s Got Talent results show, I actually expected the buzzers to go off at one point. (more…)

I don’t get Disney

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

I don’t get Disney. Well, mainly I don’t get the Disney Channel. So yeah, I don’t work in the business or do I have inside sources, I’m only an outside observer. I’m a consumer though, I see what they do and what they release and I get an impression of the company through that. Impressions can be important for a company image and whether a company will be or will remain successful. Going by the programming of Disney Channel right now I actually think that their ratings can only go down right now.

Here is the thing, Hannah Montana as a show is winding down as everyone knows, the last season has been wrapped and now all that remains is to air the remaining episodes. That’s already the first problem, the fourth season of Hannah Montana only has something like fourteen episodes which will start airing in July. The last episode however won’t be aired until well into 2011, how does that work? Like always really, erratic airing schedules. Something that Disney does to all their shows but none as bad as Hannah Montana.

Hannah Montana has done a lot for Disney, it has made them a lot of money, got them a lot of viewers. So the show is something that should be treated with respect, let it end in a proper way. I don’t know what the season will be like but there is only one real way to end it properly, give the show a solid last run. Just get it over with and air the episodes in a nice steady pace, best even once a week. I know I’m not the only one who feels that way, a lot of people do. Disney however wants to milk the product as long as possible and will drag it on forever. That’s not how to keep viewers interested and that’s how you’re supposed to end a show that has done so much for you. (more…)
